Senior Fabric Sourcer

What’s the role? 

  • Responsible for sourcing department fabrics – Womenswear and Kidswear.
  • Driving a fabric first approach across the business.
  • Lead for print and colour across the business – establishing relationships with key print mills, sourcing and developing new fabrics, key prints and coordinating any specific print requests.
  • Taking part in director level print meetings to ensure we have the prints we need.
  • Strong creative awareness of the right prints for River Island.
  • Understanding of mills strengths and creating new fabric ideas to drive fashion.
  • Responsible for speed to market departments on a weekly basis.

Key responsibilities:

  • Must be able to work under very fast paced conditions.
  • Driving weekly fabric newness meetings with the designers and buyers.
  • Assisting the manager and assistant manager in department sourcing.
  • Calling in and maintaining key relationships with the print mills and finding newness on a regular basis.
  • Ensuring good relationships with key print mills.
  • Liaising with buying, home production (HP) and technical teams when sourcing.
  • Understanding the quality and performance expected and highlighting high risk fashion fabrics to the technical teams.
  • Understanding the sourcing strategy and the price parameters of each department.
  • Negotiating fabric prices and seeing through fabrics to order.
  • Working cross divisions so must be able to communicate and work well with others.
